Cables, wire ropes, and other tension members are designed, engineered, and installed by HWZA Structures as components of some of the world’s most renowned suspension bridge structures. Suspension bridges are long-span bridges that may link highways or walkways over vast bodies of water like rivers or bays. The cables linked to the towers or pillars distinguish suspension bridges from other bridge systems.

The structure’s weight will be carried via a cable connecting to the towers or pillars and the ground. The load-bearing cable(s) will subsequently be connected to the bridge through cables and tension rod systems. A pedestrian bridge, often known as a footbridge, is a highly efficient, lightweight construction that enables people to traverse potentially hazardous regions, including roads, rivers, and ravines.

Our precision-engineered lightweight constructions provide architects, city planners, and developers with a superb alternative to traditional, heavy, and time-consuming bridge building techniques by being built in a quarter of the time and at about half the cost of conventional Suspension Bridge Installation Services. The lightweight architecture allows us to develop shapes, forms, and solutions that would be impossible to achieve with any other construction technique, such as a curved bridge deck.

Our Team

For many years, members of our team have been inventing zip bikes. We can assist you in turning your ideal Suspension Bridge project into a reality. Every step of the journey, we’ll be there for you.

Two anchor sites — take-off and landing station, without any slope – are all that are required.

Government organizations have evaluated and certified the cable we use for zip biking.

These are best-in-class steel cables specially designed for zip cycle and have 400 percent greater weight-bearing capability than the Zipline requires. If you need Suspension Bridge Installation Service, HWZA is the company to call.

How Does a Suspension Bridge Work?

Have you crossed water? Surely! You’ve probably flown across the seas. You’ve probably rowed across a lake. Bridges are used to span rivers. Imagine crossing a river without these bridges.

Consider the Mississippi. Few could swim over. Even boating would be hard! Bridges facilitated canal crossings.

Suspension bridges are popular. Ever seen photos of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge?

If so, you know these structures are important. They may be stylish. Suspension bridges suspend the roadway from two towers using cables. Two towers bear most of the weight.

They transfer cable compression to the earth. Suspension bridges have suspenders. From the deck to the main cables.

Suspenders transfer deck compression to towers through main cables. This creates graceful arcs between the towers and down. Bridge towers may be slender. Because the towers’ forces are balanced. Deck force pushes towers inward. At the same time, the primary support cables extend beyond the towers to anchor either end. They’re mainly buried rock or concrete chunks.

Equal to the deck’s force, the anchors pull on the towers. This balances the bridge on the tower.

Suspension bridges may stretch 7,000 feet nowadays.

Construction Material

Steel is used in the construction of several suspension bridges. One example is the girders that keep the deck rigid. The saddles or open channels on which the cables rest atop a suspension bridge’s towers are also steel.

Steel becomes stronger when pulled (stretched) into wires; therefore, a reasonably flexible bundle of steel wires is stronger than a solid steel bar of the same diameter. Steel cable is used to support suspension bridges for this reason. Novel low-alloy steel reinforced with silicon was created for the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge; its tensile strength (resistance to pulling forces) is 12 percent higher than any prior steel wire composition. The steel wires that compose the cables on certain suspension bridges have been galvanized (coated with zinc). Most suspension bridge towers are steel; however, a handful is made of steel-reinforced concrete.

Design

Each suspension bridge has to be constructed specifically for its intended use and must take a variety of considerations into account. For instance, the location’s geology is a foundation for the towers and the cable anchorages. Still, it also could be prone to earthquakes.

Both the structural design and the selection of Suspension Bridge Construction Material, such as protective coatings for the steel, may be influenced by the amount of depth as well as the characteristics of the water that will be crossed, such as whether it will be freshwater or saltwater and how strong the currents will be. In navigable waterways, it may be required to construct an artificial island at the foot of a tower to shield it from being struck by a ship.
